Last spring, I got a call from a property manager in St. Louis who had a problem. A tenant in a rental home had reported a musty smell near a bathroom wall for weeks, but no one could see anything wrong. The wall looked fine, the paint was intact, and the floor was dry. So the manager did what most people do: he waited.
